Neem: a natural oil known in India as 'the village pharmacy' because of its significant benefits for skin and wellbeing. The neem oil used in One Village soap is cold-pressed and filtered to preserve the quality and makes up almost 50% of the soap. Mohua oil (12% of the soap) is added to help restore skin flexibility. Also contains palm and coconut oil - with the palm oil coming from smallholder plantations in Andhra Pradesh, grown on poor quality soil where other crops do not flourish, so no damage to forests and a valuable source of income to impoverished farmers. Palm oil produces the highest yield per acre compared to other vegetable oils so allows them to grow more in a small area.
Particularly valuable for sensitive skin prone to eczema, psoriasis, acne etc. Can sometimes be used when other soaps are not tolerated.
One Village neem soap also contains 2% natural citronella - a lemon-scented oil which has antiseptic properties and is commonly used as an insect repellent. Vegan.
